Later this month we're packing our bags for an adventure out of the city; heading for a coastal walk from the historic town of Faversham to the seaside town of Whitstable. Whether you are familiar with Whitstable or a first-time visitor, we thought this months Top 5 dog friendly places to visit should centre around this charming town.
Whitstable's West Beach is a beautiful stretch of shingle beach divided up by wooden groynes. It runs from just south of the town's harbour to neighbouring Seasalter, is a distance of around a mile and is dog-friendly all year round. You will also find the charming Old Neptune pub; which is located directly on the seafront making it an idyllic spot to spend an hour or two on a sunny afternoon with your four-legged friend. They have a great selection of local ales, as well as standard pub grub and host live music events regularly.
We love Harbour Street for its pretty little independent shop fronts, restaurants and boutiques including Flory & Black, Ruskin Clothing, Honey Kanes and Frank. This character-filled street has barely changed for over a hundred years, which helps add to its charm. Some places will let you in with your dog, others won't so bear that in mind when wandering around.
The Lobster Shack is a beach bar serving a selection of hot and cold seafood, with daily specials, amazing local beers and local wine. With amazing beach views and lots of outdoor seating The Lobster Shack is the perfect summer destination to finish of your dog friendly day trip to Whitstable before heading home.
