Fetch and Follow's | Books for the Dog Lovers

Here at Fetch & Follow we love to spend the holiday season relaxing with family members, going on long dog walks and getting stuck into the pile of books which has slowly grown over the year. With this is mind we've pulled together some of our favourite recent dog relate books, from recipe books on how to feed your dog to beautiful photograph books about incredible homes and the dogs that live there.

Dog Show 1961 - 1978 | Hoxton Mini Press

When Shirley Baker began taking photographs at dog shows in the 1960s the hairdos of the owners were more impressive than those of their groomed canines. Not only a fascinating portrait of the phenomenon, Dog Show also captures the tender, amusing and at times obsessive relationship between humans and their dogs.

With an introduction by Lucinda Gosling. This book is published in collaboration with Mary Evans Picture Library.

Feed Me | By Liviana Prola

Pets are regarded as cherished members of the family, and their owners care about their health and well-being as much as they would their own. “You are what you eat,” as the saying goes – and it’s as true of dogs as it is for us.

More and more people are switching their pets to homemade meals as an affordable, well-balanced and tasty alternative to shop-bought food. Feed Me offers all the recipes and guidance to make the change to cooking your dog’s meals from scratch incredibly simple.

Delicious dishes include carrot risotto with seared beef, puffed rice patties, rabbit stew with potatoes and kefir, coconut-scented couscous, and quinoa with squash and lamb ragu.

With beautiful illustrations by Kevin Waldron – author of Phaidon’s children’s title, Harold’s Hungry Eyes – this book is the only companion you’ll need to make dog-friendly recipes full of real ingredients, love and tasty goodness!

Resident Dog : Incredible Homes and the Dogs That Live There | Nicole England

Stylish aspirational interiors feature each home's 'resident dog'. Rather than the typical house-by-house structure, this quirky beautifully photographed collection is organised dog by dog with insights about each of the canine residents

Design Hounds | Fetch and Follow X Four and Sons

Cheeky illustrations, heart-melting portraits, Snoopy mashups, wet mutts, Amy Winehouse, and more. 'Design Hounds’ is a treasure trove of dog-centric work from 50 international artists, illustrators and photographers, all in postcard format and available for purchase in a limited edition A6 book to help raise money and awareness for WECare, a charity providing free veterinary care and treatment to Sri Lanka’s street dogs.

Curated in collaboration with lifestyle magazine Four&Sons
A very special thanks to all the artists for their generous contribution and support.

Really God Dog Photography | Hoxton Mini Press

Dogs and photography have gone hand in paw almost since the medium was invented and our passion remains undiminished, with pictures of adorable, bright-eyed dogs all over the internet.

The photographs in this book offer an alternative to all the fluff. They approach the dog as a dignified, intelligent and noble being, and they consider our relationship with man's best friend for the extraordinary thing it really is. Elegant, beautiful, surprising, sometimes comical, full of drama and heart, these images show the world's best-loved animal in a remarkable new light.

Featuring work by 30 photographers including William Wegman, Alec Soth, Charlotte Dumas, Traer Scott, Tim Flach, Elliott Erwitt, Jo Longhurst, Dougie Wallace and many more

Bread and a Dog | by Natsuko Kuwahara

A food stylist who began her career as a pastry chef in a bakery, Kuwahara found Kipple on an animal-fostering website and duly adopted her nine years ago. Living in the Nakano district of Tokyo, she describes her beloved dog as “self-effacing and slow tempo, sometimes stiff-necked, but calm and peaceful. She lives at her own pace.”
When Kuwahara began to upload to the internet some of the pictures she had taken, the mixture of tantalising meals and an inquisitive furry face proved irresistible and she soon found a sizeable following. The project has now been turned into a book, Bread and a Dog, which comes with recipes for the dishes that are teasing the mixed-breed pooch, such as black-sesame pancakes and banana-coconut muffins.
