Spicy Butternut Squash and Carrot Cluster Dog Treat Recipe

Last week we hosted a special preview event for our collection with independent fashion label Draw in Light (please see previous post for more information). The event was held in our friends The Earl’s of East London’s hackney based shop Bonds. It was great to meet all of the people and dogs who attended the event and we cant wait for the collection to fully launch next week
Spicy Butternut Squash and Carrot Cluster Treats
To celebrate our collaboration with Draw in Light, we thought we would share with you our dog treat recipe inspired by the brilliant Bruce. These are a special twist on our Spicy Butternut squash dog treats

 

Ingredients
1 small butternut squash
1 carrot (grated)
1tsp ground cinnamon
1tsp ground ginger
1tsp ground turmeric
1 egg
1 cup of organic buckwheat flour
½ cup of organic oat bran

 

Method

  1. Pre heat oven to 180C/160C fan/gas 4 and line two baking trays with non-stick baking paper
  2. Cut your butternut squash in half and place on a baking tray in the oven and cook for 30-40 minutes or until the flesh has become tender. Once cooked remove from the oven to cool
  3. Sift the flour and spices into a bowl then add the oat bran
  4. Once the butternut squash has cooled, remove the seeds and scoop out the flesh from one half. You only need half a butternut squash for this recipe so freeze the other half for another day
  5. Add the butternut squash, grated carrot and egg to the flour mix and begin to mix.
  6. Slowly start to add water until you have combined all of the ingredients and the mixture is wet enough to scoop. If your mixture is to wet then add more flour.
  7. Using a teaspoon begin to scoop your mixture onto the lined baking tray
  8. Bake for 30-40 minutes or until golden and no longer soft to touch
  9. Transfer to a wire rack and leave to cool – Please make sure the cookies are completely cooled before giving to your dog

 

Keep the biscuits in an airtight container for 5-7days
