Fish and Chips

After a recent trip to the coastal town of Whitstable, we wanted to recreate the fun of enjoying fish and chips on the beach with the dogs. The novelty shapes of these biscuits are easy to create and your dogs will definitely appreciate the effort
Ingredients
Sweet Potato Fish & Chip Biscuits
1 small sweet potato
1tsp ground cinnamon
1tbsp coconut oil
1 cup of organic spelt flour

Round cookie cutters (2 different sizes)

Method
1.Pre heat oven to 180C/160C fan/gas 4 and line a baking tray with non-stick  baking paper
  1. Prick the sweet potato all over with a fork, place in the microwave and cook on high for 8-10 minutes or until the potato is soft.
  2. In a bowl shift together the flour and cinnamon
  3. Once the potato has cooled down, scoop out the flesh and add to the flour and spice mix
  4. Add the coconut oil and using your hands start to combine the ingredients to form a firm dough, adding water if the mix is to dry
  5. Lightly flour a clean surface
  6. Using a rolling pin roll the dough to the same thickness as a pound coin.
  7. Now here comes the fun part, with one third of your dough use the larger of your two round cutters start to cut out circles (these will form your fish body). Next using the smaller round cutter cut out more circles (these will be the fish tails). To make the fish tails cut the smaller circles in half using your smaller round cutter.
  8. Once cut, start constructing your fish.
  9. With the last third of your dough cut out the chips
  10. Place the cut cookies onto the lined baking tray making sure to leave 1cm gap between each cookie
  11. Bake for 10-12minutes or until golden and no longer soft to touch
  12. Transfer to a wire rack and leave to cool – please make sure the cookies are completely cooled before giving to your dog
